He has been profusely influenced by the music of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan ever since he was a child and "Sanu Ik Pal" was one of the first songs Mame Khan listened to. He fondly keeps the old tape as a token of affection and warm memories. The second musical inspiration has been his father Ustad Rana Khan, who was a wonderful father and immaculate music teacher.

‘Sanu ik pal’ is a seamless blend of the legendary Punjabi folk composition with a new Rajasthani twist to it. Mame Khan takes great pride in being able to recite poems and songs in the regional language Marwadi and one will be pleasantly surprised to find a few lines of the ‘Sanu Ik Pal’ re-written in original Marwadi. Unfortunately many instruments of Manganiyars music community are endangered, so are the regional dialects of the region. In a country where mainstream entertainment is commonly in Hindi or English, Mame Khan and his band is here to revive the poetic beauty of Marwadi and its dialects through their songs and music.
