Prakash and Patel Give India defending champs India a flying start Opening batsmen Prakash J (96 runs off 57 balls), Ketan Patel (98 runs from 50 balls) made merry as defending champions IndusInd-India got off to cracking start by romping to a 129-run victory against Bangladesh in the opening match of the T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind and played at the ---- on Monday.
The home favourites India after winning the toss and electing to bat first saw Prakash and Patel dominated the Bangladesh bowling attack and scored at a rapid rate. However, they were a bit unfortunate as both fell short of a century as India amassed 279 runs for the loss of five wickets from their 20 overs.
Chasing a challenging total, Bangladesh were restricted to 150 for the loss of seven wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Deepak Malik picked up 2 wickets and Ketan Patel, Ajay Kumar Reddy, Golu Kumar, and Sunil picked up one wicket each. The Man of the Match was awarded to Ketan Patel.
In the second game, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 10 wickets. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. New Zealand set a score on the board of 112 in 20 overs with McCaskill scoring 27 (47) and GC Williamson was 14 not out in 16 balls.
Muhammad Jamil from the Pakistani Blind Cricket Team picked up two wickets and Badar Munir picked up one wicket. The partnership of Badar Munir and Mohsin Khan won the match as Pakistan scored 117 in 7.2 overs with Badar Munir coming close to a century with his 92 not out score out of 35 balls, and Mohsin Khan scoring 15 in 12 balls. Badar Munir bagged the Man of the Match award.
