Maharashtra emerge Inter-State Champs
Mumbai, February 24: Maharashtra retained their hold on the Men’s Inter-State Tennis Championship trophy, without dropping a set, routing Indian Railways 2-0 in the final played in Bhilai on Saturday.
The Maharashtra team asserted their dominance when Aryan Goveas easily defeated Prithvi Shekhar 6-2, 6-3 in the opening singles rubber, following which Arjun Kadhe completed the rout defeating P C Vignesh 6-0, 6-2.
In the semi-finals, Maharashtra outplayed Karnataka 2-0, while in the quarter-finals they ran over Telangana 2-0.

Finals: Aryan Goveas bt Prithvi Shekhar 6-2, 6-3; Arjun Kadhe bt P C Vignesh 6-0, 6-2
Semi-finals: Maharashtra bt Karnataka 2-0 (Aryan Goveas bt B R Nikshep 6-0, 6-1; Arjun Kadhe bt Rishi Reddy 6-1, 6-1).
Quarter-finals: Maharashtra bt Telangana 2-0 (Aryan Goveas bt Tarun Aniruddh 6-0, 6-1; Arjun Kadhe bt P C Aniruddh 7-5, 6-2).
