All India Radio, Tuticorin, being a part of External Services Division, was inaugurated on 31.05.1994. Tuticorin being in the southern tip of India serves as a cultural ambassador to South East Asian Countries with its relay from Delhi for GOS English and Sinhala apart from Tamil Services from Delhi, Chennai and its origination from Tuticorin.
The Station is celebrating the Silver Jubilee by organising a function within the premises with the contributions of staff and assignees of the station. As part of the celebration officials who have retired from the station and settled at Tuticorin are being honoured. The first Superintending Engineer of the Station Shri R. Vidya Sagar, E-in-C [Retd.] has agreed to preside over the function. First Assistant Station Director Shri Ilasai S. Sundaram, Station Director [Retd] has also given his consent to grace the function with his presence.

Silver Jubilee is celebrated under the ample guidance of the committee under the headship of Kum. S. Ajitha, DDG [E ] and directions of Smt. K.R. Indira, AD [P] with active participation of all the staff members.
