Vandana Luthra, founder of VLCC honored with Haryana Gaurav Samman

Gurgaon, 13 January, 2017: Vandana Luthra, Founder of VLCC, was awarded the ‘Haryana Gaurav Samman’ by the Government of Haryana at ‘Pravasi Haryana Divas’. Mrs. Luthra was awarded for her excellence, innovation and contribution towards the wellness and beauty industry globally.
Mrs. Luthra, a pioneer in the beauty and wellness industry, has contributed in getting the industry duly recognized as an organized sector. She has introduced ensured quality standards, benchmarked services, and focused on customer interests, while employing innovative technology and applications. Her endeavors have placed the Indian wellness industry on par with those of the most advanced countries internationally.
On receiving the award, Mrs. Vandana Luthra, Founder & Vice Chairperson, VLCC, said, "I am humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award. I want to thank the Government of Haryana for recognizing the beauty and wellness industry as a major source of entrepreneurship for women, across the state and the country. I firmly believe that women in Haryana can be empowered only when they are made financially independent. I reaffirm my promise to give back to the society by ensuring that our skill development work is carried into the remotest part of the country. I would like to dedicate this award to the hardworking and dedicated team at VLCC that has contributed to our success story at every juncture.”
VLCC, under the direct guidance of Mrs. Luthra, regularly undertakes CSR initiatives in Haryana. A recent example is a hugely successful initiative undertaken to skill under-trials in hairdressing at Bhondsi Jail, in Gurgaon District, which was fully funded and conducted by VLCC. Under the Skill Development initiative, VLCC Institutes have to date trained over 1200 urban poor youth under the SJSRY programme and 170 candidates under the PMKVY initiative. Under Mrs. Luthra’s stewardship, the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) has successfully introduced Beauty courses in schools in Haryana and as of now over 8,000 school children have already enrolled for these courses.
Pravasi Haryana Divas was organized as a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations by the Government of Haryana and recognized the achievements of non-resident Indians and people of Indian origins hailing from Haryana. The two day event consisted of sectorial sessions, technical presentations, cultural evening and business meetings in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry with the delegates and invitees from all over the world.
