Harshali and Arjun clinch titles in Rotary Cup tennis

Mumbai, February 15: Harshali Mandavakar and Arjun Gohad emerged champions in the inaugural edition of the ‘Rotary Cup’ All India Ranking Championship Series Under-14 Tennis Tournament 2017, organized by the Rotary Club of Bombay Midcity (district 3141) in association with AITA and MSLTA.
In the girls’ singles final, Harshali dictated terms from the start against Rijul Sidanale and cruised to 6-2, 6-2 win at the MSLTA courts, Cooperage Road. The boys’ singles final was also a one-sided affair as Arjun was dominant against Shivam Kadam and raced to a straight games 6-2, 6-2 triumph.
The winners and runner- up in both categories were awarded with The ‘ROTARY CUP’ at the hands of Kyra Shroff (a WTA ranking player). They also received cash prizes of 2100 to winners and 1100 to runner-up from Guest of Honor Manoj Vaidya CEO, MSLTA,  PDG Rtn. Nitin Mangal Das and Governors’ Special Aide Rtn. Virendra Widge were also present at the prize distribution function.
A total of 119 players from Maharashtra and Gujrat played competitive tennis and accumulated points in their ranking. The tournament was very well received by the children and their parents. There was excellent coordination between Rotarians and MSLTA officials for smooth conduct of the entire tournament.
Rotary club of Bombay Midcity, President Rtn. Bharat Parekh along with his team of convenor  Rtn. Pankaj Shah, co-convenor  Rtn. Kishore Pradhan and all Rotary members put up a collective effort for the smooth and successful conduct this tournament which is being organized for the first time in the history of Rotary International.
Earlier, in the month the Rotary Club of Bombay Midcity had organized the Rotary Fellowship Tennis Tournament at the same venue for Rotarians and their families. The participants ages varied from 18 years to 82 years. There was much appreciation and enthusiastic participation from all Rotarians and their families.
The results (finals) – Girls’ singles: Harshali Mandavakar bt Rijul Sidanale 6-2, 6-2.
Boys’ singles: Arjun Gohad bt Shivam Kadam 6-2, 6-2.
