Mumbai- Lakme Fashion Week 2017: When the ancient Indian art of Ayureda is married with traditional weaving techniques, the resultant brain-child is a collection of outfits made from the finest non-toxic fabric. It is this potent combination of wellness, luxury and purposeful design which drives House of Milk, a luxury lifestyle brand founded
by ladyprenuers Reshma Merchant and Priyanka Kaul Lakdawala.
Promoting a richer, more nourishing and fulfilling way of being, HOM’s toxin-free line of Healing Garments combines minimalistic designs and the goodness of non-toxic fabric infused with the additional benefit of Ayurvedic herbs. “With our Healing Garments, we are reviving a 2000-year-old craft and we will be presenting a very sophisticated, luxurious, one-of-a-kind healing collection.” says designer Reshma Merchant.
The latest collection of Healing Garments, The White Rose Collection, is inspired by Nature’s bounty and features motifs of velvety roses, bees and caterpillars. These self-coloured motifs come alive on a muted palette, of white and cream, a variety of chic silhouettes, embroidered and accented with sequins, in keeping with the soothing qualities of the cloth itself. The pristine assemblage comprises cotton garments, silk garments, scarves, outfits for children, accessories and shoes.
The distinguishing factor of this ethereal collection of HOM’s Healing Garments, is the fabric that lends it its name. Using an ancient Ayurvedic tradition of detoxifying the fabric, beneficial properties of herbs and roots such as neem leaves, aloe vera, nochi leaves, curry leaves, turmeric, adhatoda, lavender, and jasmine amongst several others, are woven into bales of silk, linen and cotton. Since the skin is the body’s largest organ, these light-as-air fabrics are designed to be the wearer’s second skin and envelop the wearer in fashion which therapeutic to the mind, body, soul
