Anushka Sharma has always won praise and admiration of her colleagues in the film industry, including contemporary leading ladies. Not one to cash in on created controversies or affected by rivalries, Anushka believes that staying rational and evolving as a professional is all that one needs to make a mark. Comparisons and competition don’t benefit female actors.
Speaking to a women’s magazine about how she stays unaffected by comparisons by the media or in the film industry, Anushka gave a reference of Feud- the acclaimed TV series starring Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange about a legendary rivalry between two Hollywood divas of yesteryear's. She further explained, “It basically talks about women’s insecurities being taken advantage of by so many people who benefit from it, and how they have so often fallen prey to it. There’s sexism and ageism, and how different it is for men and women. It was so touching. I even cried in a couple of places because I could relate to it, because I know how it works here. And the bizarre thing is that it’s not very different now.”
Anushka’s ability to stay above board the politics that inevitably accompany stardom is admirable. Her disciplined, focused approach to acting, production and future ventures, an attribute she credits to her upbringing with a Defence background, has been key to her all round success today.
