Manjeri FM LRS in Kerala started special disaster management broadcast,incorporating service announcements, weather updates,life-line numbers etc provided by the District, State authorities and Police from 7.35 p m onwards till 8 p m on 8.8.219,deviating from the commentary,when the news on flood waters wreaking havoc reached .
Since BSNL net and phone connections,except one were cut off,Press releases and information gathered from various quarters were sent to our official Whatsapp group and read live by the casuals on duty using their personal phones with net connections of private service providers,which were active.
Live phone-in programmes were aired on the following days as detailed,in which local body representatives, volunteers,local news reporters,flood-affected persons,rescue team members and others participated from the worst-hit areas in Wayanad ,Nilambur ,Attapppadi and other parts in the neighbouring districts in northern Kerala.

9.8.2019:From 10.16 a.m to 12 noon,1 p.m to 2 p.m.
10.8.2019:From 11 a.m to 12.30 p m,3.p.m to 5.p.m.
11,12.8.2019:From 4.p.m to 5 p m.
Till a BSNL net connection was restored, on 10.8.2019 morning, personal net connections were used for gathering information for all broadcasts, including the live programmes.
Apart from these special live phone-ins,most of the other programmes,including film songs,light songs,morning information service,regular phone-ins,and the 4 daily developmental district news bulletins were devoted for airing news and utility,life line announcements on the relief operations. We are planning similar live phone-in programmes, next days too.
