Shri. S.D.Pant, Director(E), NABM Delhi retires on superannuation.


Shri. Shambhu Datt Pant born on 20th August 1959 in District Almora, Uttrakhand Joined the Department as Engineering Assistant on 11th December 1982. His first posting was at Broadcasting House, New Delhi. In FEB 1987 he was promoted as Sr. Engg. Assistant and posted in CE(R&D) office, New Delhi. In JUNE 1992 he became Asst. Engineer and joined AIR HPT KINSWAY, N. Delhi. As Asst. Engineer he served CE(R&D) office, AIR LEH & KARGIL, P & D Unit, DG AIR N. Delhi. In APRIL 1999 he got promotion and became Astt. Dir(E ) in P & D Unit, DG AIR N. Delhi. From JUNE 2008 to June 2010 as Asst. Station Engineer he served AIR Guwahati. On 26-5-2008 he became Dy. Dir.(Engineering) and served CE(R&D) office and NABM, Delhi as Faculty Member. Then Promoted in STS (NFSG) Grade, on 15-11-2016 and holding the Post of Director(Engineering) since 15-11-2016. On 31st August, 2019 he retired on superannuation.

During his more than 36 years of service he achieved following prestigious awards - 
i) Akashvani Annual Awards for Technical Excellence – In 1990 for "Best Technical Innovation" while posted at R & D. 
ii) Akashvani Annual Awards, First Prize, for Technical Excellence in - In 1994 for "Best Import Substitution" while posted at R & D. 
iii) Akashvani Annual Awards, First Prize, for Technical Excellence in - 2008 for "Best Design and Development work" for digitalization of 61 Studio Centers in AIR Network while posted at P&D Unit. 
iv) Akashvani Annual Awards for Technical Excellence-2011, First Prize, for developing GSM/GPRS wireless Mobile phone based Remote Monitoring & Control System (Telemetry) for FM Transmitter - Best Work done in R&D department.

His following working experience rendered towards betterment of the department is highly appreciated - 
1. Management of Radio Stations: Maintenance, operation & Repair of Studio equipment and managing of transmission , recording and OB activities – Worked at BH Delhi, AIR LEH, AIR Kargil and AIR Guwahati 
2. Management of Radio Transmitters : Managed & carried out maintenance, Repairing, operation, installation, commission of various type of radio transmitters equipment Viz. Attended and carried out the various technical works related with 100KW HMB MW transmitter, 50 KW SW Transmitter, 10 R&S FM, 3KW R&S FM, 1 KW RVR FM, 10 KW MW HMB 104, NEC 20 KW SW, maintenance of various type of Air conditioning equipment, DG sets & electrical equipment , Staff management, Technical Store management- Worked at AIR Leh, Kargil, AIR Guwahti, R & D, NABM Delhi 
3. Designing, Development, Installation of Various Digital & Microprocessor based system: Working in R&D department has been a golden period of his service carrier where he was actively involved in the designing and development of state –of-the art custom build analog, digital, microcontroller & microprocessor based systems, their prototype fabrication, testing, installation & commissioning at stations. Some of these important projects namely, are audio level control unit, FM, MW & VLPT Telemetry Systems, 16 X 16 digital Audio switcher. Both FM telemetry and Switcher projects had also got the Akashvani annual awards. 
4. Teaching Experience : As faculty member at NABM Delhi, gave him a unique opportunity for imparting training & delivering lectures, public speeches, organizing seminar & meetings, coordination of many in-house & outside training programmes which have engaged him in written & oral communication, official correspondences, participation in high level meetings & discussion, coordination of various activities, interaction with technocrats professional groups. Besides this the duties & responsibilities of head of office gave him additional opportunity and confidence in the management of office administration, store management, dealing of staff matters, procurement, dealing in financial, budget & accounts related matters.


Shri. Pant has given 36 years and 8 months of his prime life to the department. His technical knowledge enriched the organisation. His commitment, dedication, simple and positive approach  in dealing and ever smiling face have been inspiration for us.
