After successfully completing five mellifluous seasons, Royal Stag Barrel Select MTV Unplugged is back with a smashing new season to take music entertainment to newer heights with the best ever line up of the biggest names from music in India. To make an already great season even better, Royal Stag Barrel Select MTV Unplugged Season 6, along with debuting on MTV on 14 January, 2016 at 8 PM the show will also air on MTV’s brand new Bollywood music channel MTV BEATS and will also be available on Viacom18’s online platform VOOT.

On crowdsourcing the lyrics for his iconic song, A.R. Rahman said, "Urvashi Urvashi is a song made iconic by fans who find it as fresh today as it was when it first came out all those years ago. So this time, to give it a bit of twist, we decided to let fans recreate it with lyrics they wanted to hear. The most beautiful thing about art is that it belongs to everyone and crowdsourcing is a great way to get newer audiences to connect. It was a fabulous experience and what we’ve got is some interesting stuff filled with references to current events which is just as vibrant as the original one!”
However, when it comes to recreating a masterpiece, how does one infuse freshness into it? Well, leave it to the master to come up with an ingenious plan. To make the song relevant to younger audiences, A. R. Rahman took to Twitter to crowdsource lyrics to recreate the evergreen musical number! What’s emerged is an exciting new song with lyrics that take you on a roller coaster ride covering pertinent issues from demonetization to Trump! What’s more? The maestro is all set to perform the song – entirely in Tamil - for the first time ever on Royal Stag Barrel Select MTV Unplugged as he kicks off Season 6 of the show on January 14 at 8 PM only on MTV.
