Mumbai, 18 November 2017:Designer Rebecca Dewan presented Belle Ame, an exquisite festive collection in French Lace at “She Matters- A Fashion Walk for a Cause” organised by The Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), at the St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai. This event saw Mumbai’s crème de la crème and celebrities from different walks of life in attendance, including Bollywood stars, socialites, leading doctors, heads of international NGOs, business heads. Actor Pooja Hedge walks as the show stopper, while Soha Ali Khan, Monica Bedi, Malvika Sharma, Cyrus Broacha, Kunal Vijaykar, Urvashi Sharma Joshi, Sheeba Akashdeep, Shaina NC, Simi Chandoke and Nisha Jamvwal added a touch of glamour to the evening.
Rebecca Dewan’s Autumn-Winter2017 collection of gowns, dresses and indo western creations in peaches and black are designed with the festive season in mind. With lace imported especially from family mills in Calais, and the most elite lace makers in Paris such as Sophie Hallette and Riechers Marescot, the fabric is certainly the hero. Building dreamy fantasies on the runway, the lace lends a light, airy and vintage touch to the contemporary silhouettes of the collection.
Says Soha Ali Khan, “The event is to promote awareness about women’s health in all the stages of their lives, especially at the time of delivery, to reduce the mortality rates among women and to address other gynaecological concerns.”
While trying on her indo western outfit – a blue laser cut tube corset, peplum top with a draped skirt, she added, “This is my second show with Rebecca Dewan. I have known Rebecca only a short while but it feels like much longer. She is a very talented designer and a lovely person,”
Known for her fiercely urban sense of style, Rebecca says, “I am delighted to have Pooja, Soha and so many luminaries walking for the show. We’ve always experimented with new ways of defining silhouettes and using unconventional embroidery. I started my Chantilly journey years ago, and have always loved the gorgeous transparency of the fabric, the way it drapes and the intricacy of its tiny stitches.”
“I am happy to be part of this event organised by the FOGSI, share my collection and support the effort wards betterment of women’s health and creating greater awareness for related issues,” she added.
