Top seed Deanne, Nisha storm into semi-finals
Mumbai, February 14: Top seeds Deanne Rodrigues and Nisha Springett stormed into the women’s combined 75+ doubles semi-finals in the Aditya Birla Capital sponsored 25th G.D. Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club Badminton Tournament to be played at the Bombay Gymkhana and CCI courts. The championship is organised by Badminton 45 in association with Evolution Sport.
The Deanne and Nisha pair were in total control as they defeated Avniee Thakkar and Vijayalakshmi Shah by a 30-10 score in the race to 30 points match at the Bombay Gymkhana courts.
The second-seeded combination of Naheed Divecha and Pooja Sriram also enjoyed an easy successful quarter-final round as they comfortably got past Farogh Mukdam and Pradnyaoak 30-9 to also advance to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Rajesh D'Souza and Yogesh Sanghavi proved too good for the duo of Manoj Vanjani and Nitin D. Ghabane as they won their Men’s combined 100+ doubles round of 32 encounter by a fluent 30-16 points.
In the Professional singles action, top seed Sanjay Golbare crashed out going down fighting to unseeded Jayesh Develkar 25-30 in a pre-quarter-finals match.
