India's best-known highway rescue operation, the Lifeline Foundation founder Dr.Subroto Das is selected for the Padmashri award for 2017 in medicine.
Dr. Das who founded the Lifeline foundation after a freak accident on Ahmedabad Baroda highway where he and his wife waited for hours to get help.

The foundation is now running in four states of India and reaching to the accident victims in time and save thousand of lives.
After the experience the MBBS doctor and hospital management specialist started the Lifeline foundation to help the highway accident victims in the golden hour to save their lives. After years of saving lives the central government conferred him Padmashri award. He dedicate the award to everyone who is involved in the project.
Dr. Das said that the service is running in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Kerala and now they are looking to strengthen the initiative. They focus on train the paramedics and drivers and also to upgrade the ambulances and spread the message to the people.
