Aishwarya hat-trick leads United Poona to easy win
Mumbai, June 25: Aishwarya Balapure was in the best scoring form and notched up a fine hat-trick to power United Poona SA, Pune to an emphatic 4-0 win against Rahul Football Club, Nagpur in a Group-A league match of the WIFA Women's Football Championship, which is being conducted as part of the FIFA-AIFF State Development Project, at the Cooperage ground, on Sunday.
The dashing striker Aishwarya scored the opening goal in the very sixth minute and another in the second in the 23rd minute to double the Poona side’s lead. Soon after the break, Aishwarya was again on target with the third goal in the 37th minute to complete her hat-trick before Zelia Michael scored the fourth goal in the 52nd minute to round off the tally.
Earlier, strong favourites, Bodyline FC, Mumbai enjoyed total domination as they blanked Poddar International SC, Kolhapur 7-0 in another league encounter. Strikers Reha Rodrigues and Reetika Sahani led from the front by scoring two goals each, while Aditi Shetty, Ash D’Silva and Karen Pais netted one each to round of the winning margin.
Results – Group-A: Bodyline FC 7 (Reha Rodrigues 2, Reetika Sahani 2, Aditi Shetty 1, Ash D’Silva 1, Karen Pais 1) beat Poddar International, Kolhapur 0.
United Poona SA 4 (Aishwarya Balapure 3, Zelia Michael 1) beat Rahul Football Academy 0.
