Navi Mumbai: ITM Group of Institutes organised Toastmasters Demo Meeting on 9th of September 2017, at ITM’s Kharghar campus. Toastmasters International is a not-for-profit organisation and a world leader in communication and leadership development.
Founded officially in 1924 by Ralph C. Smedley, this not-for-profit organisation is currently operating in 141 countries with more than 352,000 members spread across 16,400 clubs in the world. The organisation has helped produce exceptional public speakers and leaders. Believing in the servant – leadership model, Toastmasters has left a wake of success stories everywhere a club has been set up.
Toastmasters engages members, not only, in practicing public speaking, but also focusing on leadership development by encouraging members to take up leadership roles within the Toastmasters’ system. Toastmasters is a self-paced learning model which focuses on Learning by doing methodology.
ITM is starting its very own Toastmasters Club at Kharghar, for its students. The demo meeting organised on Saturday, 9th of September, was just to give ITM’s students, faculty, staff and employees, a taste of what is in store once the club begins. The demo meeting was a big success evidenced by a strong 100+ turnout of students and faculty, alike. The demo meeting provided opportunity to its members and students of ITM to win awards for impromptu speeches. A 13-member team from Toastmasters had come down to conduct the demo meet. The value proposition of Toastmasters was explained by the Team post which they also conducted a Q&A session for the students and staff.
The team comprised of Chinmay Patil, Divyarchi Sharma, Haleemunnisa Fatima, Pallav Agarwal, Pawan Patel, Pooja Raina, Preeti Gurbani, Rohan Parakh, Santosh Akela, Varsha Pillai, Sanjay Shende and Ravi Sharma.
A faculty member said, “The safe and respectful environment created by Toastmasters is perfect for anyone desiring to improve their public speaking, communication and confidence. The members themselves are here to be better versions of themselves and support those who wish the same for themselves.”
ITM believes in providing the best environment for talent to develop and grow. Setting this club is another feather in its cap.
