After rendering 29 years of service to All India Radio Mrs Archana Prasad retired yesterday.She was given a warm farewell by All India Radio Lucknow staff. Archanajee joined AIR in year 1988 as Transmission Executive.In the year 1999 she got promoted to Programme Executive.Winner of International awards for her programmes, she had visited US,UK & South East Asia for her Radio programmes. She has spent a good time in AIR producing programmes for Children & Women.Recently on 15th September,she made a live commentary during the maiden visit of President RN Kovind to his home town in Kanpur.AIR Lucknow staff wished her all success in her post retirement life.
Archana ji was deeply concerned with women and child related issues and produced various features for state hook up on child right, gender bias, female foeticide, girl education, child labor, street children etc. She produced a series of program on state hook up 'kanoon ki baat' on weekly basis for awareness among general public regarding different issues. programme was very popular as we received a lot of letters on weekly basis from the listeners . She has taken interview with many celebrities viz singers like Anoop Jalota, Kailash Kher, Sanjivini, Usha Timoti, Music Director - Dilip Sen, writer Mridula Garg.renowened social worker and gandhian Dr SNsubbarao,begum hamida habibullah,rani ramkumar bhargava,captain laxmi sehgal and many more which were broadcast from AIR Lucknow.
Smt Archana received many awards, few of them are -
Produced talk show on HIV/AIDS and won EU-India Media Award THOMPSON Foundation in 2005, and visited UK. And participated in various international workshops at London.
Her production on international children day of Broadcasting 2009 "Kids tuned in to US", received international acclamation. I was nominated for ICDB and visited New York to receive the certification from UNICEF.
She was felicitated for my achievement in International field by All India Radio in Akashvani Annual Award ceremony 2009 held at Chennai.
Archana ji says - Radio Speaks almost as mysteriously as the voice of our conscience. I feel gratified that almost thirty years of my life have been so well invested in reaching out of millions of audiences.
