Pledge support to raise awareness about mental health
Mumbai, September 26, 2017: Mpower Minds, in its quest to create awareness and alleviate stigmas around mental health illnesses, presents GenM, a music concert where Arijit Singh will perform live in Mumbai on November 12, 2017. The reigning king of Bollywood is performing in Mumbai for the first time this year at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex, the venue of the Global Citizen’s festival where Coldplay, JayZ and other international artists took to the stage last year.
The brainchild of Mrs. Neerja Birla and Ms. Ananya Birla, Mpower endeavours to be the movement to affect change and proactively champion mental health causes, create awareness, advocate prevention and provide services with a professional, holistic and multi-disciplinary approach. On World Suicide Prevention Day, Mpower launched the ‘Ear For You’ Movement, striving towards encouragement of dialogue on Mental health issues. With Arijit being the flagbearer of the movement for this annual property, leaders from the entertainment, business and sport domains will be in presence to support the cause.
Commenting on the launch of GenM, Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson, Mpower Minds, said, “We have launched GenM to be a music concert for young people and to provide a platform to engage in meaningful dialogue on mental health, in a fun and relatable way. At Mpower we strongly believe in creating awareness and eradicating stigma associated with mental health. Through this platform we urge everybody to take a pledge and support this cause. We are very happy that Arijit Singh will be performing and helping us spread the word."
Speaking at the launch of GenM, Ananya Birla, Co-Founder and Vice Chairperson, Mpower Minds, said “I think #EarForYou is an important movement for the youth, especially considering the pressures we face in today's times. We aim to bring people together to pledge their willingness to encourage dialogue around mental health issues. In that spirit, and with an aim to create more awareness about this campaign we are introducing 'Mpower presents Gen M,' a concert that will see Arijit Singh live. On behalf of Mpower, I am delighted to invite you all to pledge your support to our cause, as the only way to beat the stigma is to do this together.”
Arijit Singh has expressed his delight at being associated with the event. “I'm extremely thrilled to be a part of this initiative by Mrs. Neerja Birla, Ms. Ananya Birla and their team at Mpower. With everything happening in the world right now, I believe that we all need to come together and stand up for causes that truly affect us. Every voice matters and I'm lending mine too. Our entire team is trying to showcase a new live set. The GenM concert is special. More importantly, I get to witness people standing with me in support of the Mental Health #EarForYou movement. It’s going to be a beautiful experience for everyone involved”, he said.
Tickets for GenM go live on Monday, September 25, 2017 on Paytm, the concert’s official ticketing partner. Proceeds will be directed towards the Mpower Foundation. The event is hosted in partnership with Hindustan Times with 9xO and 9xJalwa as TV Partners, and RedFM is the radio partner for the event.
