Radio to remain powerful medium of communication, says AIR News Pr DG Ira Joshi


Principal Director General of All India Radio NEWS, Ms Ira Joshi has said that Radio will remain a strong and powerful medium of communication. Addressing a conference in New Delhi today, Ms Joshi said, the best feature of the radio is that people can enjoy it while doing their everyday work. She said, AIR NEWS broadcasts only news and authentic news. 
The Principal Director General said, Radio news has been there for eight decades and news gathering system now has undergone a huge transformation. She said, when television came, the world said radio will now be dead, but it survived as it has an inherent advantage. Ms Joshi said, AIR News is not only in radio but also on all online platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube. She added, News On Air Mobile App has been a shot in the arm for All India Radio. Ms Joshi said, AIR is broadcasting news daily in 92 languages and dialects. The Principal Director General said, digital News is bridging the gap between Rural and Urban India and now the role of regional languages have become more important. She said, the role of journalists and media houses have become more challenging because of fake news. 
Director General of DD NEWS Mayank Aggrawal said, today reporting is taking place through mobile instead of big cameras and Doordarshan is also using better and cheaper technologies of mobile journalism.
