AIR Ratnagiri celebrating 44th Anniversary today



All India Radio Ratnagiri is celebrating its 44th Anniversary on 18.01.2020. All India Radio Ratnagiri was commissioned on 18th January 1976 and was formally inaugurated on 5th June 1979. All India Radio Ratnagiri is located on the west coast of Maharashtra and completed 44 years of dedicated service to the listeners of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Konkan region. The transmitting set up (8 kms away from the studio) consists of 20 KW Harris make DX 20 type AM transmitter (1143 KHz. ) and 1 KW FM TR (101.5 MHz) is co-sited in the studio block. 

Ratnagiri has historic importance since it is the birth place of great freedom fighter like Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the "Karmabhoomi" of Swatantraveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Well known social reformer and women educationist Bharatratna Maharishi Dhondo Keshav Karve was brought up here. The architect of our Constitution, Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sanskrit Scholar Bharatratna Panduranga Waman Kane were closely related to this region.

Mango and Cashew cultivation is famous and especially Alphonsa mango is famous all over the world. Ratnagiri is the main station of Konkan railway.

The station is also available on newsonair mobile app. This Station has made tireless efforts in the field of dissemination of information and knowledge on all aspects of human life. AIR Ratnagiri has made valuable contribution to preserve the art and culture of the Konkan Region.

On the occasion of foundation day, station has arranged various programmes to be broadcast on AIR Ratnagiri as well as stage programme is being arranged were the members of the staff and their families will participate.
