Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) part of Broadcast Asia Seminar in Singapore
The Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium will participate in an extensive seminar on Digital Radio Implementation and Transition Strategy scheduled during Broadcast Asia, on June 18th in the morning. The half-day event will be held at Suntec Singapore, Level 3, Room 308.
The seminar aims to offer an understanding of DRM technology (and other standards), to examine the best strategies for a smooth transition to DRM while drawing on practical examples and the experience accumulated in Asia-Pacific and other parts of the world.
The DRM experts will present the standard, so versatile in the AM bands (like medium wave) and VHF bands (like FM), its benefits and many valuable features like the Emergency Warning Functionality. Network planning considerations, actual steps to be taken for a successful DRM roll-out and demonstrations of some of the excellent audio in DRM and other benefits will be part of this unique event held in conjunction with this major Broadcast Exhibition. The experts who will share their theoretical and practical knowledge with the participants are: Alexander Zink, Fraunhofer IIS, Albert Waal, RFmondial and Sharad Sadhu, Consultant.
Ruxandra Obreja, DRM Consortium Chair, says that: "This is the first time that ABU and AIBD have invited us to take part in such a comprehensive seminar. We are sure it will highlight the benefits of DRM by giving participants the chance to understand the features and benefits of the DRM digital standard in a simple and practical way. DRM is a great technology for the Asia-Pacific region and the more participants learn about it, the more comfortable they will be to ask for and introduce it."
