1Oth NATIONAL WOMENS' HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: AIR Thiruvananthapuram, did the coverage for AIR, of the 10 th National Hockey Championship finals, played at Hockey stadium, Kollam on 9/02/2020 Set in the backdrop of the Ashtamudy lake, this stadium with Astro Turf, provided the hockey lover several moments to cherish. Haryana defeated SAI in a thrilling encounter, 6 – 0. The match was not one-sided as the score suggests. SAI, who had entered finals for the first time fought well but could not hold on against the fast game and tactics of the eventual champion.
The AIR Commentary team consisted of Sri.Bhim Prakash Sharm, who is also ADP (Policy), DG, AIR. Giving him company was the young Sreejith, the English commentator. Sri.Harbinder Singh, who had played for India in 3 successive Olympics (1964, 68 & 72) gave his expert views during breaks. Incidentally, this ace centre forward, has the rare distinction of scoring most field goals in 1964 and 1968 Olympics, the latter occasion including a hat-trick.
