EX AIR K Rashi Kumar chosen as jury member for Intn'l AIB Awards-2020 - News Report


Sangam city–based noted Radio Broadcaster K Rashi Kumar has been chosen as one of the jury members for the prestigious Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) Awards-2020 by the London, UK-based body. Rashi is just one among two India-based professionals chosen to be on this 43 member elite panel of judges that will decide the award winners for 2020.

The international awards for journalism and factual television, radio, audio and digital productions in any language awarded by the Association for International Broadcasting in 2020 – an unprecedented year – marks the 16th year of these independent, influential and respected awards. The award attracts nominations from all over the world with prominent journalists and organizations vying for the honours. 

The AIB, UK is the only global alliance of media companies that deliver, or support the delivery of, cross-border and multi-platform international broadcasting.

"I am honoured and excited on being chosen as Jury member for 2020 awards by AIB. I look forward towards contributing my efforts in recognizing excellence in the field of Journalism in its various formats and celebrate the work done by some of the best in the field," said Rashi, a resident of Civil Lines and wife of a city based journalist. Rashi, in 2017 was a finalist of the AIB Awards in the 'Presenter of the Year (Audio)' category in her individual capacity.

She has over 22 years of experience both in Radio broadcasting and academics, currently teaching at Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) at Allahabad University. Starting her career in 1997 with All India Radio (AIR) as a host for English programmes, she is the first voice of North Indian State of Uttar Pradesh's first FM station 'AIR FM Rainbow, Lucknow' that was launched on August 20, 2000. She has worked with educational, commercial and public radio stations since 1997. She has over 1800 live radio shows of different genres to her credit. She has served as programming head with two of India's biggest corporate Radio channels and has also worked with Gyanvani-Allahabad.

She has over a dozen awards to her credit including Women Achievers' Award 'Voice/Face of UP' (2016) by a media house and was honoured with Rani Laxmi Bai Award by Uttar Pradesh Government (2016). She has been honoured with Legends 2018 Award for Video Journalism, National Gems of Humanity Award 2019 and many other.
