On the occasion of "World Radio Day"on 13.02.2021organised by Marathi Vidnyan Parishad, HAM Radio, IETE Pune at Muktangan Science Research Centre Pune. Smt.Chitrrekha Kulkani, Asstt.Director(Engg.) delivered a speech with presentation on Technical Developments in Akashwani. Starting with brief history of Akashwani Pune since 2.10.1953 to till date. Added the reach of Akashwwani programs to 99% of India's population. Madam explained AM, FM and the latest DRM technology in simple way which was a treat for technical participants. Advantages of DRM Radio, such as 1.Less power consumption( Green system) of transmitting equipment for same coverage area. 2. Added more number of channels with scrolling news head lines(journline) on single frequency.3. Quality of sound with robustness of radio signals for far end radio receivers. 4. Distance education program without internet. 5. Emergency warning signal and automatic " Turn On" facility useful in disaster management.
