Mr. C.B.S. Maurya the Engineer-in-Chief of All India Radio and Doordarshan the Public Service Broadcaster of India, retired on superannuation on 31st January, 2021.
Mr. C.B.S. Maurya had joined as Assistant Director in 1986 as a member of Indian Broadcasting (Engineering) Service. As Engineer-in-Chief, the highest post in Engineering cadre, he was responsible for overall management of technical activities in AIR and Doordarshan network across the country. His responsibilities included Policy formulation, Planning, induction of new technologies, Project implementation, etc.
As a visionary leader, he exhibited magnificent performance in achieving full digitalization of studios in Doordarshan, introduction of HDTV production system in the network & establishment of Media Asset Management.
He was also the Chairman of National Working Group-6 [Corresponding to Study Group-6 of ITU-R),LITD-7 (committee on standardization of Audio, Video & Multimedia systems of BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards)& LITD 12 (committee on standardization of Transmitting Equipment for Radio Communication of BIS)]. He was also an active member of various other national and international technical committees.
Shri CBS Maurya is also President of Broadcast Engineering Society (India) , one of the biggest society of broadcast engineers in the world.
