New Delhi, January 24, 2017 – Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), a registered not-for-profit organization and the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India, has partnered with Khushii, a non-profit social organization, to offer inclusive education to 300 under privileged children, studying at Swatantra Shikshaantra, Devli, Sangam Vihar, New Delhi.
Through this initiative, AOF & Khushii aim to provide supportive education to the children through remedial classes and help in their holistic development. Besides emphasis on education through academic sessions, attention will also be given on value-based education such as basic etiquettes, behavioral techniques through real-life field trips. A lot of focus will also be given to the health, hygiene and overall development of these children through regular health camps, nutritious mid-day meals, extra-curricular activities, counselling sessions etc. The intent of this initiative is to help integrate the drop out children into mainstream schooling, as well as, create awareness about education and social issues in the community.
Commenting on the association, Anshu Budhraja, General Manager, Amway India said, “Amway’s vision is to help people live better lives and enable the less privileged section of the society, especially children to lead a better life. Amway India has been actively pursuing CSR initiatives since 1996, even before we started our commercial operations in 1998, with a belief that social responsibility is much more than the incurrence of cost or resource on a charitable/ philanthropic act of social benefit. We see it as an opportunity to bring in social innovation and change. This project with Khushii has a series of initiatives, which will help the children’s holistic development addressing all the needs of a child’s life - be it intellectual, physical or emotional.”
Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, Chairman, Khushii, said, “I have a strong desire to serve the under-privileged children. Coming from a humble background myself, I understand and value opportunity. Committed organizations like Amway, who are willingly and dedicatedly providing such possibilities are serious about creating impact on ground and serve a greater number of children. I am absolutely delighted with this tie-up and look forward to working alongside and expanding the ambit of our relationship with Amway.”
Khushii (Kinship for Humanitarian, Social and Holistic Intervention in India) is working for the upliftment of underprivileged communities in the fields of education, health care, livelihood training, micro-finance and environment in both rural and urban areas in India.
