DDG AIR Kargil Inaugurated Newly Installed Solar Water Heaters at AIR Kargil



Ladakh is a cold desert which has been affected by the Global Warming and sudden rise in Vehicles, DG sets etc in region which results in untimely snowfall, rainfall, hot winter etc leading to depletion of the age old and source of life in this cold desert, the Glaciers.

All India Radio Kargil in an effort to reduce its carbon emission has started using renewable energy as alternate source of energy for day to day use. Deputy Director General (E) All India Radio Kargil Mukesh Kumar inaugurated the recently installed solar water heaters in all the establishment of AIR and DMC Kargil along with Radio Colony. A total of 10 Solar Water Heater of 500 LPD Capacity has been installed in all these establishments.

Mukesh Kumar while talking on this occasion told that it's very interesting to know that using these solar water heaters AIR will be saving 60,000 units of electricity in a year which indirectly can save 7,000 liter of Diesel which indirectly helps in reduction of 70.5 ton carbon emission in the atmosphere. Mukesh Kumar further added that this is a small effort from AIR Kargil towards saving Mother Nature and this New Year we all have to take a pledge to save Mother Nature. On this occasion other present includes Project Director KREDA Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Vijay Kumar DDO, officers and family of radio colony.

Kacho Ahmad Khan told that Kreda is trying its best to replace the source of energy towards renewable and hope that all the people in Kargil Ladakh will switch to renewable energy for a better future. He appreciated the step taken by AIR for installing Solar Water Heaters and hope in future AIR will also replace DG set with SPVs etc.
