This is the first time that they will be part of a show exclusively on a video on demand (VOD) service
MUMBAI 25th January, 2017: It is reunion time for Sanjeeda Sheikh and Vatsal Sheth, one of the most popular on-screen couples of Indian television. Having won our hearts with their performances in the revenge drama Ek Hasina Thi, the on-screen pair have been cast in Vikram Bhatt’s new urban thriller ‘Gehraiyaan’ that will be launched next month on Vuclip’s OTT video on demand service Viu.
“Really happy to be sharing screen space with Sanjeeda again despite her leaving me paralyzed in our last serial together. The audience can expect to see some chills and thrills lined up for Sanjeeda,” said a visibly snug Vatsal Sheth who will be seen playing a pivotal character in the show.
In response, Sanjeeda Sheikh, who has been on a roll on Instagram lately with her photogenic escapades said, “Destiny, and Viu, have a way of bringing people back together. Vatsal is someone who tries his best to scare me. There was a prank that he played on me two years back with a nimbu that was bleeding blood. But, I am not going to let any of Vatsal’s antics affect me this time. Jokes aside, I’m looking forward to playing the role of Reyna and learning about the paranormal. And, who better to initiate us into this world than the master – Vikram Bhatt himself?”
So What’s ‘Gehraiyaan’ all about?
Gehraiyaan is about a young urban couple whose relationship is challenged by the forces of the dark.
Speaking about the show, Bollywood director, producer and script writer Vikram Bhatt said, “Call it horror, noir or thriller, Gehraiyaan will not only explore supernatural elements but will also explore human nature when it is comes under threat. It is sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Sanjeeda and Vatsal are immensely talented actors who have brought the script to life. The audience should expect the unexpected.”
Penned by Vikram Bhatt, Gehraiyaan will be part of the ‘Viu Originals’ lineup for the year which will also includes Bhatt’s other show which has a working title ‘Spotlight’ starring Tridha Choudhury and based on the life of a reigning Bollywood Superstar.
It is directed by Sidhant Sachdev and co-produced by Viu, Bhatt and Culture Machine.
