Sudha Chandran to flag off 10th Maharashtra State levelKharghar Marathon Run on on 22th January 2017to promote Cashless Transactions


Mumbai, 17/01/2017: Noted actress and accomplished Bharatnayam dancer who is the epitome of determination and gut, someone who overcame life’s’ unjust hurdles to reach the top will flag-off the 10th Maharashtra state level Kharghar Mrathon on 22th January, 2017. Ramsheth Thakur International Sports Complex and Kharghar Marathon Committee are organizing the event for the tenth year in succession. To give impetus to Prime Minister Shri. Narandra Modi’s full-fledged war to promote ‘Digital India’, the theme for this year is ‘Run to promote Cashless   Transactions’
Commenting on the same, MLA, Panvel constituency, Shri Prashant Thakur, said; “In today’s economic scenario, wellness is no longer desirable, but pivotal to a person’s long-term success. However, the pace of life often deters people from taking up activities for improving health. If the concept of improving health and wellness is coupled with improved bonding and camaraderie among communities as well as contributing to a national cause, I am convinced many people will be proud to be associated with such an initiative.”
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Sudha Chandran said “It is a privilege to be associated with an event like this which has a multi faceted impact on people. It spreads the message of fitness, fosters community bonding and also promotes the multiple benefits of being a cashless society. I would like to congratulate the Ramsheth Thakur International Sports Complex, for undertaking such an ambitious project, which brings a plethora of benefits to the people”
As a preamble to the marathon, various initiatives were undertaken. Impromptu flash dances were performed by groups at various malls like Little World Kharghar, Orion Mall Panvel among others. Fitness and training programs were organized in over 15 prominent housing societies. A one km pre- marathon walkathon on the Kharghar Hill also saw over 300 participants. To further spread awareness, elocution, essay and drawing competitions are also being organized in three categories: school children, collage goers and general public. The agenda of this exercise is to create and spread awareness on ‘India moving towards a Cashless Economy’. To incentivize participation the overall prize money is over Rs. Two lac twenty-five thousand and saw over 2000 participants.
The main aim of this marathon is to increase awareness in the community about health and fitness. The funds raised by the marathon will be utilized for community services projects in the area of Skill Development Program, Basic Education Literacy, Economic and Community Development.  Last marathon saw a record number of 15, 000 participants. The organizers are confident that this number will increase significantly, with the participation of several celebrities.
