Mumbai, 27th March, 2018: Animedh Charitable Trust(ACT) celebrated the International Women’s Month by celebrating ACT DEEVA and awarding Women achievers at an event in Mumbai. The supremely talented and gorgeous Ankita Lokhande was the special guest of honour, who lit the deeya and gave away the award for Vocational Excellence to Samiksha Santosh Chavan.
ACT DEEVA recognizes those women who have managed to survive the odds, had the courage to challenge society’s norms and inspired millions of other women to follow their path. ACT believes in the power of the woman – her ability to create, nurture and transform the lives around her. While every woman is remarkable in her own way, there are those who have broken the glass ceiling and gone beyond conventions and stereotypes; those who have challenged and changed the definition of what it means to be a woman in today’s day and age.
On the occasion, Ankita Lokhande said, "It is amazing what Animedh Charitable Trust has been doing for less privileged women, since many years. I am happy to be a part of the ACT DEEVA celebration and it's so inspiring to see so many women join hands together and work towards uplifting each other. We need women at all levels, including the top, to reshape the conversation, to make sure women's voices are heard and heeded and Nivedita is doing a great job at that. Super honoured to be a part of such a noble endeavor"
Managing Trustee of Animedh Charitable Trust, Nivedita Desai said "We are honoured and delighted that Ankita Lokhande joined us to celebrate Women’s Day at Animedh Charitable Trust (ACT) where every woman is a Deeva and every day is a woman’s day! We see our ACT women beneficiary as ‘Deeva’- the enlightened ones who shine bright and spread their brilliance all around. We took a pledge, ‘ACT to make a Difference’ and are working tirelessly to transform the lives of underprivileged and disadvantaged girls and women through education and economic empowerment. ACT Deeva Women’s Day is a celebration of their everyday victories and also a recognition of the Super Deeva amongst us who excel despite all odds."
The evening saw beautiful dance, skit and fashion show performances all conceptualised and executed by the beneficiary women themselves. It was wonderful to see 150 women from across ACT centres come together and celebrate the spirit of womanhood.
