'Namaskar Akashvani Agartala' – the date was January 26, 1967. This was how Juthika Bose started her journey as first female announcer of All India Radio just 51 years back. When she was asked to give history of All India Radio in Tripura, she became quiet for few moments perhaps; she went to the flashback to recall the day.
"It was 4:30 PM when the first station of All India Radio was launched here. I gave my voice first introducing Akashvani on the day. Later, my colleague announcer Dhruva Mukherjee joined me. Dilip Ghosh, a renowned radio announcer from Kolkata who came to train us was also present then," she said.
Bose continued with AIR for four years and then joined Tripura government 'Education Department from where she retired in 2001 as publication officer.
Recollecting the memoirs of her involvement with AIR, she said she first heard of interview of AIR from Rupen Bhowmik, a yoga expert with whom she got married later.
