~ Assam Hockey beat Hockey Gujarat 6-2 ~
~ Punjab & Sind Bank beat Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy 5-0 ~
Bhopal, 17 April 2017: With a final round of games remaining across all pools, Day 4 of the Hockey India 7th Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Men) ‘B’ Division hosted two games from Pool H.
In the opening game of the day, Assam Hockey took on Hockey Gujarat in Pool H. Hockey Gujarat opened the scoring in the 5th minute via a Niraj Rajput goal, before Parth Salekar doubled that lead in the 12th minute. Assam rallied together though, and scored two goals via Nazrul Islam (23’) and Mohammad Tanveer (30’) to restore parity at half time. In the second half, Assam came out the much stronger team, and scored four goals in 10 minutes to effectively kill the game and take home the three points. The goal scorers for Assam in the second half were, Harikanta Teron (52’), Sanju Chutia (53’), Ramesh Shahu (55’) and Prashant Kabeer Sen (62’).
In Pool H’s second game of the day, Punjab & Sind Bank beat Sports Authority of Gujarat – Hockey Academy 5-0. Prince (29’, 60) and Gurumukh Singh (46’, 54’) scored a brace each in Punjab & Sind Bank’s authoritative victory.
In matches played later on April 16, 2017, Hockey Patiala beat Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 14-1, Hockey Bihar got the better of Hockey Madhya Pradesh 5-2 while Telangana Hockey beat Vidarbha Hockey Association 8-4.
