New Delhi: U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) in partnership with U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host the “U.S.-India Corporate Social Responsibility Symposium: Making Economies Work for Women & Youth” at Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi on April 14, 2017.
The conference aims to bring together stakeholders from the U.S. and Indian business community, civil society stakeholders and governments to discuss issues related to education, skills, entrepreneurship and access to technology with the goal to identify the potential solutions, innovative practices and the best approach concerning Corporate Social Responsibility in India.
Under the overarching theme of Women and Youth Empowerment, the conference is hosting panel discussions on “The Business Case for Women’s Economic Empowerment”; “Models for Success: The Power of Partnerships and Creating Shared Value”; “Building Entrepreneurship” and “Access to Technology and Education”.
Talking about the CSR Symposium, Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President, USIBC, said, “The objective of hosting the U.S.-India CSR Symposium is to ensure that CSR in India is made strategic and sustainable. The conference aims to work towards building a collaborative relationship between NGOs and corporates by providing the relevant stakeholders a platform to talk about their expertise, the challenges they face and the work they do in a variety of fields. USIBC aims to focus on innovation, responsibility and inclusion.”
USIBC is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which spearheads a women’s economic empowerment program with symposium supporters including Abbott, Amway and Walmart. According to Shamarukh Mohiuddin, Director of Economic Empowerment at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, “Social investments are most impactful and sustainable when there is a business case for such investments. Our objective is to discuss how global businesses can create value for themselves while also removing barriers to economic participation for women and youth in India.”
