Mumbai 18th Dec 2017:
Thespo, India's home-grown youth theatre movement has grown from a one-day event in 1999 to a year round programme training, recognising and promoting quality youth talent in the performing arts. As always, this culminates in the week-long pan-Indian massive youth theatre festival each December! The platform has now grown in leaps n bounds just like any homegrown league going international in a way! This year there are groups like Islampur in Sangli to Lucknow coming forward with teams, blended with the curated line up of International theatre exponents from US, Greece, UK and Brazil
On Day 2 i.e 19th Dec 2017, there are many exciting Workshops and plays which will take you to a theater ride. Starts with workshop at 10am called “Starting with me” by International Artist Jess Thorpe and Tashi Gore, workshop is about ‘start from scratch’. The day will continue with Live Music Performance by TBC group at 6pm in the evening along with a Platform Performance at 8pm by Mumbai based Group ‘Khazaana’ which is about a devised dramatization of an Afghan folktale, about a poor farmer’s unwavering faith in god and himself. It’s a saga about wishes, destiny, karma and the absolute truth, adorned with traditions of clowning and qawwali. The day ends with a Play by Delhi based group called ‘Mrig Trishna’ which is about, Noori who has been abandoned by society for being a eunuch. In her search for an ultimate truth, she creates an imaginary world around her.
