Aryan, Haadin take Mumbai Univ into semis
Aryan Goveas and Haadin Bava, both from Rizvi College, won their singles matches in straight sets and then combined to win the doubles and lead Mumbai University to a 3-0 win over Punjab University in the quarter-finals of the All-India Inter-University Tennis Tournament, being played at the KIIT University Complex in Bhubaneshwar, on Thursday according to information received here.
Beginning the proceedings, Haadin got the better of Yuvraj Singh 6-4, 6-3, before Aryan outplayed Hardeep Singh Sandhu 6-3, 6-2.
Aryan and Haadin, the current men’s doubles National champions, then came together to defeat Yuvraj Singh and Jagmeet Singh 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to complete the rout and set up a semi-final clash with Chennai University.
In the first round, Mumbai University accounted for Manipur University. The other members of the team are Kunal Vazirani, also from Rizvi College, Vatsin Thakkar from Mithibai Collge and Maitreya Bhagat from Thakur College.
