Harry Edwin, grandson of Smt K Premavally Ramachandran who served AIR, Calicut for 38 years from 1964 to 2002 as an administrative staff has been awarded Sri Poovai TR Srinivasan & S Alamelu Award, medal and cash prize for his academic merit in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering five year Dual Degree (B Tech/ M Tech 2015-20) course of IIT Madras. Harry is the topper among the students of 2015-20 batch who pursued Ocean Engineering for both B.Tech and M.Tech in IIT Madras.
Harry's mother Swapna Edwin too served Calicut AIR as a casual transmission announcer from 1991 till 1996 when she got married. And his father Edwin P M was a Programme Executive at AIR, Coimbatore till he availed voluntary retirement three months back.
During the very first day of the last placement season in IIT Madras, at his 21st age, Harry Edwin was offered placement on his very first interview by the US based multinational firm "Wells Fargo" at an annual package of 30 lakhs, excluding other benefits. And Harry joined Wells Fargo on August 3, 2020 as work from home duty arrangement. Now as its Programme Associate , he is the only Indian in the market model validation team of Wells Fargo.
Along with Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Harry had been pursuing his parallel interests in Data analytics from sixth semester onwards by taking additional efforts and carrying out various academic and internship projects on this field. Harry Edwin had served as Vice Captain and Captain during his school studies in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Thrissur and received Dr E P Aravindakshan Endowment Prize for exemplary leadership qualities in class XII. He had achieved first position in the regional quiz on Mathematics at the 41st Jawaharlal Nehru Science Exhibition, Kerala. Harry had also secured 1st rank in the All Kerala IDET budding engineering scholarship conducted by Sahrdaya College of Engineering.
Harry's mother is a post graduate in Economics and father a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Calicut Regional Engineering College ( NIT, Calicut) Like his grand mother and parents, Harry too has close ties with broadcast media. He has participated in various programmes and features for AIR and Jerusalem Internet Radio.
On the paternal side, Harry is the grandson of Perumpallil Michael and Mary from Alleppey who are no more alive. His grandfather on the maternal side, Kakkattukunnath Ramachandran from Badagara too is no more. Premavally is now at 78.
