Smt. D R Gunasundarihad joinedthe Government Service as Engineering Assistant in the year 1987 at All India Radio, HPT, Kodaikanal,coming under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. She was promoted as Senior Engineering Assistant at AIR Portblair. She served in various Stations/Offices like, Madurai, Portblair, O/o The Addl. Director General (E), Chennai and Pondicherry. During her service career, she had attended trainings on Audio Measurement,Webel CD Player, AEQ codec workshop and Archival Recording&Netia's Studio & News room Automation. The knowledge gained by her from these Courses were effectively put to use by her in her official duties.
During her stint at AIR Portblairshe had been allotted the work of re- writing the Technical Data Register including the Drawings of the 2x10 KW BEL Transmitter as the old one was in complete worn out condition. This was a commendable job. Her regular duties revolved around Shift duties, Operating and Maintaining the Broadcasting Equipments andensuring of breakdown- free transmission by attending to the faults which occurred in Studios during transmission hours and Non-Transmission hours, and covered many important Recordings including VIPs at Studios and outside. Some of the following are worth mentioning:
* Covered the recording of 8thsession conference of the Parties to the UnitedNations frame work Convention on climate change on Audio Work System at New Delhi.
* Successfully performed Maintenance, Re-modification and Servicing of the Audio Switching and Transmission Consoles and also the Wiring work of Racks and Consoles.
* Taken complete Measurements of Audio equipments.
* Supervised the arrangement of OB equipments for Music festival, live coverage of Funeral function of late Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ms.Jayalalitha's and also made arrangements at Control room and Studio for live running commentary.
* Covered the LIve OB of IPL Cricket Match,Tennis Match at Chidhambaram Stadium at Chennai and also the live coverage of Indoor/Outdoor games at Mayajaal at Chennai.
* Covered the Governor's speech at Secretariat during Jallikattu strike, Governors Address at Rajbhawan and also covered the Budget Session at Secretariat.
* Performed Election duty at Studios and the Live Radio bridge programme.
* Covered the Live Running commentary of President's speech at Tambram Air Force station.
* Visited AIR stations like Coimbatore, Ooty, Tirunelveli, Markapur, Bangalore, Yelahanka and Chennai along with the Inspection Team to collect Station Reports
Till today she has been discharging her duties very sincerely with much devotion. After putting in 33 years of Service, she retires from Service today (i.e.) 30.11.2020, on attaining superannuation.
