Determined Maharashtra rally to thump Manipur 7-2
Mumbai: Twice in arrears Maharashtra came up with a strong fighting display to score a thumping 7-2 victory against Manipur in a concluding Group-A league match of the AIFF 72nd National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy at the Sailen Manna Stadium in Howrah, according to information received, here, on Tuesday. This was the second win for Mahtrashtra.
The hero of Maharashtra’s win was Ranjeet Singh who notched a fine hat-trick scoring in the 59th, 77th and 90th minutes after Sahil Bhokare had scored the first in the 28th minute. Nikhil Prabhu (75th), Kiran Pandhare (86th) and Naqiur Ansari (90+3rd) scored one each to complete Maharashtra’s win. Manipur who started positively and twice took the lead scored through Chanso Horam (17th) and Dhananjoy Singh (40th).
