A film that took 20 years in the making, Dallas Buyers Club became a runaway success as the movie gained tremendous critical acclaim for its storyline and for the heart wrenching performances by Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto that also let the two stars to their first even Oscar Wins for Best Actor and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for their roles.
With everyone singing the films praises, the movie is actually based on a true story the real Ron Woodruff and the club he created to help HIV/AIDS affected victims a source for a healthier life. After Woodroof learned of his illness in the mid-’80s and after he was turned down for the new AZT drug trials by his doctors, the sickly electrician sought other ways of getting the treatment he believed he needed to survive. Through his own venture called -Dallas Buyers Club, his own local version of an international ring of drug distribution for those who couldn’t afford AZT or who had adverse reactions to the drug. Upon diagnosis, he was initially given 30 days to live; he wound up living for seven more years.
The film features the extreme length Ron Woodruff played by Matthew McConaughey went for his venture and the live saved for those who realized the affect the medicines were helping instead of the AZT drug. The movie took 20 years and had extensive research into the lives of the characters making it a completely realistic movie unlike any other.
