AN IDEA: How to increase listeners and revenue in AIR

Radio is a gift of modern science, which has influenced and attracted to modern human society. It is an audio medium that provides many types of information, news, etc., while sitting at home and entertains us in many ways. Although today, along with audio, visible media all the same has been done more effectively. It remains as a means of livelihood for thousands of thousand of artists, technicians, producers, vendors and employees of households. Small bade of latest news from radio daily taking place from morning to night. By doing so, it instantly gives the information to every person and connected in national dimensions. Especially during the night and at the time of the day, its foreign service introduces India to the international world by its activities and joins us in a way. Our radio is spread in all the terrain of India. AIR's home service comprises 420 stations today located across the country, reaching nearly 92% of the country's area and 99.19 % of the total population. AIR originates programming in 23 languages and 146 dialects. Our customer is the source , who enjoy various activities on radio in different time. But the number of listeners in todays busy life are decreasing day by day due to television revolution. And this is a concern for us. Therefore, to overcome this concern and to increase revenues, we all have to take some important steps.

Out of 420 radio stations we have at least 300 radio stations where there is no private radio station as a competitor , AIR alone broadcast the program of knowledge and entertainment in various languages. We should try at such places that our goodwill always maintain and the listeners become crazy for it. Our VIVIDH BHARATI Service is better than all private channels, so we can exploit the listener more by taking advantage of this.

I believe that if the number of audience increases, then revenues will also increase. In today's television era, people do not like to buy radio with the decreasing popularity of radio even sales and service is also affected. But those who have it they cannot live without listening to the radio, and became as an euphemism in their life. Along with this, the person who uses the FM in the mobile phones can enjoy the same, but this number is very small as compare to television. I believe that almost all radio stations are broadcasting VIVIDH BHARATI as well as various programs in the different regional language in these days which can increase the number of listeners. In order to attract the listeners , we should provide a fixed number of radio receivers to every radio stations through the central government or through Prasar Bharati itself. So that every radio stations can provide the radio receiver in their area to the listeners free of cost. If we look as an example, if the coverage area of station 40 km and we broadcast FM Channel , then we should provide radio receivers free of cast in the bus station of that area, in private van/auto at every junctions or common areas , in the patrol pumps, in the pan shop, in the hotels, the village's corner shop and in the malls etc. Apart from this, each radio station should be provide radio to the people through organising different cultural event and to make them aware of different programs of AIR. If this happens, then once again, the Radio Revolution will come round and people will be more interested in the radio. When the listeners enjoy the program well, we engineers will also have a challenge to gift excellent audio quality to the people and a new energy will be generated inside us . Along with this their complaint will also make us more energetic towards work. In this way, we can rapidly expose the schemes which our government is pursuing such as health related information, weather information, government schemes for farmer and scheme for poor's etc.

We can collaborate with the the railways and install radio in the trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi, where crores of people in the country can enjoy the radio directly along wih railways collaboration of radio with the bus stand, large malls, restaurants and hotels, can make good progress towards the revenues.

As the number of listener's increases, then local agencies, Semi Government Organization, Local People, Social People and Local Businessman will move towards radio for advertisement, from which there will be a rift in our Revenue Collection and our share holders will also show good interest.
