The three Day Media Workshop on Climate Change Reporting - Kohima


The three Day Media Workshop on Climate Change Reporting in the Himalayas culminated in Kohima today. Journalists both from print and electronic media of the state participated in the round table session on how to bridge the gap between Media, scientist and civil society in the issue of climate change. Participating in the session as resource person, Member of Integrated Mountain Initiative, Amba Jamir said the biggest challenge that Nagaland today faced is without consistency data and evidences available on climate change. He said when no proper data are made available, it would be impossible to help the farmers who are the most affected. Jamir said proper strategies and policies should be made through evidence base. Meanwhile, Managing Editor of India Science Wire, Dinesh C Sharma said climate change being a complex subject, media persons often need to be sensitized on the issues. He said the workshop is being organized to exposed journalists to numbers of issues involved in climate change. He said role of media is not only to create public awareness but also to help shape and influence policy maker.
