Pune 27th April: A galaxy of leading male and female Body Building and Physique Sports athletes from more than 28 Asian countries will showcase their perfectly toned and muscular bodies as they would compete for the top honours in the 52nd Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship, to be held in Pune, India from October 2 to 8, 2018.
This was announced at a press meet and greet in the presence of Mr Datuk Paul Chua, Secretary General - World Body Building and Physique Sports Federation, President- Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Federation, Mr Sugree Supawarikul- Secretary General- Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Federation, Ms Christina Kam, Executive Director, WBPF, along with Chetan Pathare, General Secretary of the Indian Body Builders Federation, Asst Secretary- World and Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Federation. Premchand Degra, President- IBBF, Madhukar Talwalkar. Exe Vice President -IBBF and key official of Indian Body builders Federation who were in town to inspect the venue and interact with the media.
The Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF) recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India will be organising and hosting the 52nd Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship under the auspices of the Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Federation (ABBF) and intend to host at the Shri Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge, Balewadi, Pune.
Indian contingent will try to put up a strong challenge with the likes of Ram Niwas of Railways, Sunit Jadhav of Maharashtra who were the winners and the runner up respectively in the recently concluded Mr India Bodybuilding Championships. Selection Trails for the Indian contingent will be held on 1st September in Raipur, Chattisgarh.
During the said Press Conference Datuk Paul Chua mentioned that “Competitions in a total of 52 events in various categories will be conducted for Junior men and women and Senior men and women body building and physique sports categories, during the seven day event. He further mentioned that we are reviving the Physically Challenged category after 20 years to encourage Physically Challenged athletes”.
Sugree Supawarikul- Secretary General- Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Federation informed that “more than 400 athletes and 200 officials from more than 28 countries would participate in this prestigious continental championship”.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Chetan Pathare, General Secretary, IBBF said ““At Indian Body Builders Federation, it has been our constant endeavor to promote the sport of body building, and towards achieving this massive goal, we have always conceptualized interesting events that will elicit maximum participation. After hosting successful Mr. World in 2014 this time IBBF is extremely delighted to host 52nd Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship 2018, in India. It is one such prestigious initiative, where over 400 athletes with 200 Officials will participate from over 28 Asian Countries. We have also ensured that all the athletes participating are provided the best of amenities, which will enable them to put their best foot forward. Here’s wishing all the participants the very best for the upcoming championship”.
