Shri R. Vidya Sagar, Retired Engineer-in-Chief settled in a gated community in the Southern suburbs of Chennai. The community has around 700 flats. He took to service to the society. He served one term of two years as Secretary, took a break for two years and now serving another term as Joint Secretary in the Apartment Association. He and his team's total involvement has culminated in the Association's bagging the second place in "National Water Award, 2018" under the category of Resident Welfare Associations. He and his co-office bearers would be receiving the Award from the Honourable Minister for Water Resources at a function in Delhi on Monday, the 25th February, 2019. Apart from the above involving water management, he has also played a leading role in setting up in-house composting of kitchen wastes, which was covered in a detailed article in The Hindu earlier.
