With a target of INR 1 crore, #1SmallStepForCancer fundraising campaign has achieved 82% of its target in under a month solely through crowdfunding and is supported by many celebrities
Mumbai, October 26, 2017: 1SmallStepforCancer, a fundraising campaign by 1SmallStep Foundation in association with the Rotary Club of Mumbai Queens Necklace has over INR 82 Lak of its INR 1, 00, 00, 000 target on India’s largest crowdfunding platform Milaap. This campaign kickstarted on September 6, 2017 aims at building an emergency fund for child cancer care.
Anoj Viswanathan, Co-Founder and President, Milaap said “Child cancer is the most curable form of cancer. Despite available medical facilities, 4 out of 10 children don't complete their treatment due to their families being overwhelmed by the financial and emotional burden. 90% of these abandonments happen in the first 4 weeks of the treatment before the definitive funding comes in. It is precisely here where 1SmallStep Foundation and Milaap come in. We joined hands to create a fund for child cancer care and are today overwhelmed with the generosity that people have shown towards this cause. We are almost there and look forward to the public support to fructify this earnest cause.”
This campaign is supported by well-known celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Emraan Hashmi, Johnny Lever & Shilpa Shetty. This Emergency Fund will be used as an interim fund in the initial weeks of treatment to support low income families in their most vulnerable times hence reducing the abandonment rates. About 1,000 children, who perhaps would not be able to complete their treatment, will benefit from this Emergency Fund.
Rohan Bhansali, Founder, 1SmallStep Foundation said “December 2016 was when I first visited a cancer home for patients in Dadar, Mumbai. Spending time with the patients and their families gave me some insight into what they really go through during the course of the treatment. This Emergency Fund we are building will help up to 1,000 children complete their cancer treatment by providing financial assistance when they need it the most. I would like to thank all our 800+ donors for contributing towards the campaign. We started of with an ambitious target of a Rs. 1Cr Emergency Fund and its humbling to see this dream come true.”
100% of all donations made towards this campaign will go towards building the Emergency Fund for Child Cancer care. Rotary Club of Mumbai Queens Necklace will match all donations to double the impact. All expenses in lieu of this campaign, including payment gateway fees, have been sponsored by private donors and there are no administration fees applicable that 1SmallStep Foundation will charge. One can make donations by Net Banking, Credit / Debit Card, Payment Wallets, Direct Transfers and Cheques. For further details please log onto - http://ift.tt/2gz1qzJ
