On the occasion of Raja Paranjape's Birth Anniversary on 20th April, every year this festival is organized in the name of Raja Paranjape festival. During the same time period from April 14th – April 20th of every year.
This festival showcases screening of films, several plays and musical based programs .
The 9th edition of Raja Paranjape festival was conducted by Raja Paranjape foundation which was inaugurated by MP SambhajiRaje at KeshavraoBhosale auditorium. This festival recognizes artists from various fields of acting, direction, music and drama.
Director Rajesh Mapuskar received Raja Paranjape honour for his notable work in the field of direction for ‘Ferrari kiSawaari’ and ‘Ventilator’ which has also won national awards in 2016.
The legacy of Raja Paranjape continues to reside in hearts its audience, the main motive behind organizing this festival is to reach out, to the next generation.
On winning the award Rajesh Mapuskar beams that “We had theatre in Shrivardhan where along with my cousins I used to work, this grew my interest in cinema. Raja Paranjape’s movies were great part of my childhood memories. When I recall my journey from Shrivardhan to Mumbai and my struggle to make a mark in the industry from then, to now directing films like Ferrari kiSawaari and Ventilator. This day is also special as it brings out fond memories of working with NirmitiSawant on a play”
Actor Sanjay Narvekar, Music director and Singer AvdhootGupte, Actress NirmitteSawant also received Raja Paranjape Award.
