AIAA celebrates ‘Ananda Basanta Samagame’ on the occasion of Bengali New Year

Mumbai, April 16, 2018: The Bengali community of the city gathered at Mysore association to witness the spectacular program ‘Ananda Basanta Samagame’ curetted by All India Artists Associaton (AIAA-Shimla) and it's president Mr. Rohitashv Gour and wife Mrs. Rekha Gour. Rohitashv is a renowned film and television artist is the president of AIAA (founded in 1955), it’s an organization running in the interest of artists and the art society of the country with its mission "National Integration through Art"
The show started with lighting ceremony by Mrs. Gour, who is also the advisor at AIAA followed by performances by the artists. It had a perfect blend of Ravindra Sangeet and n. Pandit Iman Das mesmerized the audiences with Hindustani vocal. He comes from Bangalore, Patiala Gharana. The evening proceeded with a unique ensemble by Molly Siddharth (Kalgan), Snigdha Sinha who performed Bharatnatyam exponent and Srabanti Ghosh’s Nazrul and Ravindra Sangeet. The program depicted all the 6 seasons, the uniqueness being each Bengali song and a Hindustani classical song was of the same raga. From bolere papihara to aoge jab tum Sajna it was a melodious medley. A unique highlight was a Hindustani thillana with tabla bols rendered to perfection in Bharatnatyam by Snigdha Sinha. A baithak dance with bhav and abhinaya by senior artist Molly Sidharth on rangi saree gulabi was enchanting. A rhythmic fast-paced Tarana sealed the colorful series with all dancers on stage in a bandish of this.
On the celebration, Mr. Rohitashv Gour, President, AIAA expressed his pleasure, “Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city and so is the celebrations from padwa to Onam we celebrate everything with the same zeal. AIAA had the pleasure to be part of this Bengali festival. Bengal which is already known as the origin of art and music has given us many talents and it was our small tribute to the community. AIAA has been blessed to have this opportunity to connect to share the stage with such talented artists.”
