Mumbai, 14th April 2018: The NES-SVB Group of Institutions celebrated 55 years of their educational voyage on 13th April, 2018 today in Mumbai.   Honorable Union Minister of State for Cultural and Tourism and Ministry of AYUSH, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Mr. Peter Baldwin, Regional Director, Western Australian Government- South  Asia and Mr. J.R. Nikhade, Asst. Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra was the principal Guests of Honour. "NES is one the premiere educational institutes of India. We rarely find such schools and we need more like them to face the competitive future of education. Change India initiative by GOI is proud to have such an institute for making a better youth for tomorrow. My best wishes for India's first STEAM Research Lab at NES International School Mumbai for kids from Jr. kg to Class 12 which is now open for all students", Shri. Shripad Yesso Naik from Ministry of AYUSH.
The day marked the inauguration of the NES ISM STEAM Research lab. STEAM stands for Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics. It is set up to facilitate and inculcate Research Attitude among school students in the above fields. With this the school becomes India’s First STEAM Research Lab for students from Jr. Kg to 12th Grade. The school will throw open the lab for kids from all over the country through special weekend batches, workshops & camps. "The education be it IB, ICSE or State Board should be tailored to suits the needs of students and we are striving to fill the gap. With focus on training and innovative methods we intend to create tomorrow’s innovators. We aim to produce innovators, not bookworms”, shared Dr. R Varadarajan, Founder President NES SVB group.
The NES SVB group has always been trying to develop better, newer and more innovative learning-teaching methods for the students. They, through their farsightedness conceived the idea of a STEAM lab almost a year ago and ensured that the lab and the facilities are properly planned and executed.
"A STEAM lab has facilities across all disciplines under one lab, whereas a regular lab is subject specific. We will be teaching kids all the basic experiments in robotics electronics, computers, model making, chemistry, biology and arts. What is important is that the focus will be on bringing out the hidden talent of the students and helping them nurture it further", shared Ms. Shaheen Sahibole, HOD, NES ISM STEAM Research Lab.
She further adds, "This lab is designed for students from early years to the age of 17 or so. But the unique facilities here will be able to help even undergraduate level students if they decide to pursue research".

The Foundation Day Celebration is a time when the Group reminisces on its year long journey, acknowledges the contributions and achievements of the faculty, felicitates staff with decades of service and rejoices in the achievements of its students. This year Foundation Day Awards will be conferred on staff with 20/25 years of dedicated service, the trail blazer in STEAM education and other landmark contributors to the institution."
