BES Trivandrum Chapter conducted a Presentation/Demo on "Lightning protection - Latest Standards & Best Practices" by Representatives of M/s OBO BETTERMAN, a German based company.
It was a very interesting & knowledgeable session in which we could gather many vital information on the topic. Different possible ways of lightning strikes, How to select the Level of Protection for any building & the various methods of protection available, including the various Class of Surge suppressors (for power, RF, Telephone & Data lines) were discussed.
More importantly critical insight was obtained as to how to obtain complete protection for equipments & manpower inside any building by total integration of Exterior & Interior protection methods.
This is a critical area which we as Engineers should not neglect, as we are dealing with very costly equipment & invaluable human life. There was no entry fee for the Session.
