AIR Jammu organized “LAL DED MEMORIAL LECTURE”




Organisation like Akashvani Jammu has always remained in the forefront of preserving and furthering age old traditional values and rich culture of the region. In another attempt, All India Radio Jammu organized Lal Ded Memorial Lecture on the topic "LAL DED SAMRITI VYAKHYAN" before the invited audience on 12th December 2019 at Abhinav Theatre . The lecture was delivered by renowned Hindi poet, author and political activist Dr. Agnishekhar. Renowned Sanskrit Scholar Prof. Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai, Padmshri was the Chief Guest whereas famous Political Analyst and Columnist Prof. Dr. Kashi Nath Pandita , Padmshri and Eminent Dogri writer, Poet, Broadcaster Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri, Padmshri were the Guest of Honour.

The Event was inaugurated with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries on stage. Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Head of Office, All India Radio Jammu, welcomed the honoured speaker and esteemed guests. The occasion started with brief introduction on the importance and objective of today's programme by Sh. Kanwal Krishan Lidhoo, Programme Executive AIR Jammu.

During course of the lecture, the expert speaker Dr. Agnishekhar elaborated on the background and history that how Lal Ded, the 14th century Poet born at present day Pampore, and her mystic musings continue to have deep impact on the psyche of Kashmiris. An ardent Shaiva Philospher composed "Vakhs" (Sanskrit Vakya) giving expression to already existing rich Shaiva Philosphy of Kashmir, so as to make it accessible to common Kashmiri. Certain hitherto known aspects about Lal Ded which have not seen the light of the day were also highlighted. Naina Saproo Trisal presented "Lal Vakhs" and their 18th century Sanskrit Translation by Pt. Bhaskar Rajanak, in her melodious voice in such a manner that everyone was forced to give her a splendid ovation once she finished her performance. Accompanists who performed along were Sami Feroz (Harmonium), Rakesh Anand (Flute), Purshottam Lal (Tabla) and Sunil Sharma (Synth). Prominent personalities besides people from all walks of life attended the jam packed event and appreciated the efforts of radio in preserving and encouraging the rich cultural , historical and literary heritage of the region. 

Vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Renu Raina, Programme Head, AIR Jammu whereas Ms. Madhvi Sharma, Sr. Announcer ably conducted the proceedings of the unforgettable event. The event was co-ordinated by Sh. Kanwal Krishan Lidhoo Incharge Kashmiri / Urdu Progs. , AIR Jammu. Technical support was extended by Sh. J.L.Bhat and Sh. Ravinder Singh, Engineers , AIR Jammu. Third in the series during the current year , the Lecture was held under Special Programming for AIR Stations in J&K.
