“AIR JAMMU ORGANISED ETHNIC FEST”







All India Radio as is its mandate to popularize Dogri Folk Culture organized Ethnic Festival at Baba Sidh Goria Devsthan, Swankha Distt. Samba on 5th of Dec. 2019 under "Special Programming for AIR Stations in J&K".

The festival stated with lighting of Lamp by dignitaries present on the occasion. Programme Head AIR Jammu Ms. Renu Raina in welcome address narrated the motive of AIR Jammu in organizing such festivals as throughout the current year AIR Jammu organized Ethnic Fests at various places in Jammu.

Paper presentation by Sh. Satyapal Garhwalia, renowned Dogri Poet and educationist highlighted the historical and cultural importance of this religios place. Local folk parties of the area efficiently delivered their performances in the form of "Karaks" which are usually sung at Devsthan during Melas and other religious and cultural occasions. Those performed include Krishan Lal and party, Raj Kumar and other local talent. Poets Raj Kumar Dubey, Ajeet Pal Sharma and Keemati Raj rendered their poems on the occasion. Performances were highly appreciated by the staff and other audience present which include on the occasion.

Sr. Programme Executive, AIR Jammu Sh. S.K.Malhotra appreciated the performance of folk artists. Local gathering thanked Akashvani Jammu for the initiative and termed the festival as a major festival of the Dogra region which needs to be conserved and further popularized.

The event was co-ordinated by Incharge Dogri Section Sh. Pawan Khajuria, Prog Executive , AIR Jammu while the proceedings of the programme & vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Anjana Badyal, Prog. Executive, AIR Jammu. Those who were present on function include Nath of Devsthan Bhola Nathji, Sh. Hemant Kumar, Asstt. Commndent BSF, Sh. Bachan Lal, Sh.Rajesh Gupta, Programme Executives, Sh. Hassan Perwaz, Sr. Announcer Akashvani , Jammu. Technical support was extended by Sh. Ravinder Singh and Sh. J.L.Bhat, Engineers , AIR Jammu.
